Ruffini's History

Ruffini, S.A. is a family business with over 60 years of experience, specialized in high-pressure aluminum die casting, mold manufacturing, and precision machining, headquartered in Rubí (Barcelona).

The Origins

Ruffini was founded in 1964 in Barcelona, after previously operating in Italy as a supplier of metal components for FIAT and other automotive manufacturers.

From its beginnings, the company committed to innovation in aluminum casting and machining processes, laying the foundations for what is now a reference industrial group in Europe.

1964

Foundation of Ruffini in Barcelona, after previously operating in Italy as a supplier of metal components for FIAT and other automotive manufacturers.

1972

Creation of ICMA (Industrial Constructora de Moldes y Afines), its own mold design and manufacturing plant, which was soon fully integrated into the group.

2003

Creation of ALUMEC, a plant dedicated to machining, cleaning, and assembly of parts, which allowed offering a comprehensive service to industrial clients.

2023

Corporate reorganization, through the merger of the three companies (Ruffini, ICMA and ALUMEC) into a single entity: Ruffini S.A.U., reinforcing operational efficiency and unified group management.

Vision

Ruffini's vision is to establish itself as a European reference in aluminum transformation and machining, leading innovation in industrial processes and expanding its presence in strategic sectors beyond automotive. Its goal is to continue growing as a modern, sustainable, and technologically competitive industrial group, maintaining the family essence that has characterized it since 1964.

Mission

Ruffini's mission is to offer comprehensive solutions in aluminum die casting, mold engineering, and precision machining, guaranteeing maximum quality, reliability, and sustainability in every project. From its plant in Rubí (Barcelona), the company works to add value to the European industry, combining advanced technology, experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Values

Quality

Our Quality Department has all the necessary resources to evaluate and ensure the quality of our products: X-ray equipment for porosity control, Spectrometer for chemical composition control, 3D machines for dimensional control, etc.

The human team guarantees immediate professional attention and support in the main languages: English, German, and French.

Thanks to these technical and human resources, RUFFINI SA guarantees the Quality standards demanded by today's market and holds ISO/TS 16949 certification.

Environment

Our primary objective is compliance with current regulations and establishing procedures based on Pollution Prevention and Continuous Improvement. We are committed to respecting the environment and, to this end, we manage the environment in accordance with international regulations (such as ISO 14001).

Our commitment to our clients is to develop industrial projects that are respectful of the environment and minimize their impact on it.

We have our own water treatment plant, and both recycling projects and material minimization, as well as the selection and use of products with the best environmental performance, are important to us.

Additionally, we promote and encourage environmentally respectful conduct among our suppliers.

We answer your questions

Ruffini performs high-pressure aluminum die casting (HPDC), has its own mold workshop (manufacturing, repair, and maintenance), and has a machining workshop for final or semi-finished parts. We offer the complete chain: design, testing, series, and post-processing for OEM clients.

We manufacture aluminum parts for the automotive sector (structural and body components), as well as for industrial sectors that require high-precision injected and
machined parts. We handle both prototypes and medium to large series.

Our mold workshop covers design, manufacturing, repairs, and preventive and corrective maintenance. Having the workshop in-house allows us to reduce launch times, control critical tolerances, and offer quick maintenance to minimize series downtime.

We work with the most common aluminum alloys in automotive for HPDC, selecting the alloy according to mechanical requirements, metal fluidity, and heat treatability. We can advise on the optimal selection for weight, strength, and cost.

Yes. In addition to die casting, we have CNC machining for finishing operations and critical tolerances, and we can deliver assembled sub-assemblies according to OEM specifications, reducing logistical interfaces for the client.

We apply dimensional control (CMM), non-destructive testing (according to specification), alloy composition controls, and process traceability. We can adapt control plans (PPAP, APQP) to OEM requirements.

Yes. We offer support from the design phase (DFM), rapid prototyping and pilot series, to process validation and product homologation testing.

We produce from small series for testing to medium/large industrial series. For high-volume projects, we coordinate production capacity and logistics to ensure deliveries to OEMs.

Lead times depend on mold complexity and the level of validation required. With our own mold workshop, we accelerate the adjustment and start-up process --- we typically reduce lead time compared to suppliers that outsource molds. (Exact time is confirmed after RFQ and technical review).

We have quality and traceability management systems oriented to the automotive industry (ISO 9001 and 14001 /TS 16949 or equivalents according to client), and we can adapt to specific OEM homologation requirements.

Yes. We advise on design for casting and machining to reduce weight, optimize walls, and improve productivity without sacrificing structural performance; we collaborate with the client on design alternatives for cost savings and performance improvement.

We offer surface preparation, painting/coatings, and post-finishing processes required by the client, ready for assembly or shipment.

We adapt packaging, JIT deliveries, and document management to facilitate integration into the OEM supply chain (labeling, traceability, EDI if applicable).

We internally manage preventive and corrective maintenance operations, manufacturing of mold spare parts, and design improvements for longer service life and less series downtime --- this reduces the total cost of ownership of the mold.

Ruffini combines HPDC know-how with its own mold workshop and machining, allowing integral process control and fast response times for its clients. Ruffini provides flexibility, close treatment, and local/quick adaptations.

Yes: We follow OEM specifications, control agreements, and can adapt thermal processes, machining, and finishes exactly as required by the client.

We recycle aluminum scrap and work to reduce energy consumption in processes; we can also study energy efficiency projects and environmental certifications in collaboration with clients.
